Entrance Requirements

Each applicant for this program must possess a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record during the previous three years and must pass the United States Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) physical examination in order to meet Federal requirements following graduation. High school graduation or GED equivalent is generally felt necessary prior to acceptance, although Charlotte Truck Driver Training School will consider applicants other than High School graduates so long as those applicants have the ability to benefit from our training.

RESTRICTIONS

Any person between the ages of 18 and 21 years old may operate a motor vehicle (straight truck or tractor-trailer) within the state of residence under the following conditions: Providing he/she meets all the requirements of the United States Department of Transportation

 

Providing he/she does not haul passengers for hire or hazardous materials

 

He/She may haul freight moving interstate commerce (through any state) that has a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or less if the vehicle is not transporting hazardous materials.
